New Santiago Bernabéu Stadium

Having already participated in the renovations of the early 2000s, we are once again part of the new construction phase of the Santiago Bernabéu from 2019 until 2024, the year of its reopening.

This sports complex, located in the Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid, was inaugurated on December 14, 1947.

Over the years, the stadium has undergone major renovations and it was with the arrival of Florentino Pérez as president of Real Madrid that the so-called "Master Plan for the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium" was launched, with one objective: to improve the comfort of the stadium and the quality of its facilities, and to maximize revenue from the stadium.

127 million euros were invested over five years (2001-2006). This project included significant improvements such as the extension of the roof, the new facades, new dressing rooms and boxes, new bars, heating in the stands and the creation of the Bernabéu Tour.

In this new integral reform, which starts in 2019, there are many novelties in its reform worthy of mention. Two of them are the retractable roof and the electrical covering of the entire facade, which will be able to change color or even project images. Thanks to the new roof, which can be deployed in 15 minutes, all the seats will be protected from the rain, allowing 100% of the members and spectators to benefit from this new structure, which will also improve climatic comfort.

But another major milestone in this massive construction is the subway galleries underneath the stadium's green. A whole network that will house in the future the six 'planks' that now make up the Bernabéu's six levels. A series of galleries will keep and protect the grass, so that it can be hidden for its perfect preservation and thus be able to hold any type of event, as well as two new towers, new galleries and stores and a new interactive museum.

Thus, Madrid will have one of the most innovative sports venues at international level, incorporating a considerable urban change in the area occupied by the stadium, taking the Paseo de la Castellana, Padre Damian and Rafael Salgado.
