Now imagine that this complex is located in Algeria, in North Africa, and has been built with a budget of 450 million euros. Welcome to the Mohamed Benahmed Oran Convention Center, an innovative and creative construction that has become one of the most important buildings for the economic development of the region.

This architectural complex was built to host the activities of the 16th World Liquefied Gas Congress in April 2010.
With this objective in mind, the Congress Center was built with a useful surface area of 20,000 m2 and a capacity of up to 3,000 people, an Exhibition Center, a five-star luxury hotel of the Le Meridien chain, which offers 254 rooms and 42 elegant suites and a large subway parking lot with a capacity for more than 500 vehicles; these are the facilities that make up the complex.
The Mohamed Benahmed Convention Center is an innovative and creative example of modern architecture; appropriate to the climate of the region, while integrating indigenous architectural features and elements, such as the dome of the Hall of Heads of State, the ceramic mosaics of local art and the two large lanterns at the main entrance.
The seismic action has been one of the most significant conditioning factors taken into account when carrying out this project, due to the high seismic hazard of the northern region of Algeria because it is located at the convergence between the African and Eurasian tectonic plates. A construction marked by contemporary architecture and that combines the color of the desert sand with the blue-turquoise of the Algerian culture on its façade, including the largest ceramic mural in the world, installed on its west façade, 58.40 meters wide and 34.40 meters high, for which 51,392 tiles were required.
Today it has become one of the most important constructions for the economic development of North Africa.
