The Telefónica Las Tablas Building is a project of the Spanish multinational company Telefónica, S.A. that brings together its resources in a single administrative headquarters in the Las Tablas neighborhood of Madrid. With an investment of more than 500 million euros, this project consists of thirteen office buildings, including an innovative solar energy production plant that allows significant savings in air conditioning. The façade formed by a double skin of exterior glass creates an impressive and functional architectural design.

As a result of the ideas of optimization, structural savings and greater efficiency in management, the Spanish multinational company Telefónica, S.A., decided to congregate the different resources it has in the same administrative headquarters, in the northern area of Madrid and more specifically, in the neighborhood of Las Tablas, near the future extension of the Paseo de la Castellana.

The project with an investment of more than 500 million euros. It consists of thirteen buildings, all of them for offices. The Telefónica District houses 14,000 people, including visitors and the Group's own staff, in an area of 140,000 square meters and is connected by a canopy, on top of which is the largest solar energy production plant, located on a roof, in all of Europe. It is more than one kilometer long and covers more than 57,000 square meters, of which 21,000 square meters will be used for the installation of 16,600 photovoltaic solar panels. The energy project involved an investment of more than 21 million euros and will generate more than 3.6 GWh per year. This will allow very significant savings in air conditioning, 15% in winter and 34% in summer.

The project also contemplates a façade formed by a double skin of exterior glass, connected to the interior façade by structural glass ribs, as visors and sunshades. The façade as a whole comprises more than 85,000 square meters of curtain walling.

Rafael de La-Hoz, author of the project, wanted to materialize his vision of an abstract and transparent box, similar to an ice cube in which the vision between plants is not distinguishable, and for this he has selected a screen-printed glass with white dots.
