Tomorrow, October 20, will be the first day that the general public can enjoy the facilities of the new Plaza Río 2 shopping center in Madrid.
Located on Calle Antonio López, opposite the Matadero Cultural Center and next to the banks of the Manzanares River, the Plaza Río 2 Shopping Center is expected to serve more than half a million inhabitants of the Madrid neighborhoods of Usera, Carabanchel, Arganzuela, Orcasitas and Villaverde.
The LGSIE group (Spanish subsidiary of the European group La Société Générale Inmobilière) has invested 200 million euros in the construction of this new shopping center, which joins the other seven it has already built throughout Spain: Madrid 2 La Vaguada, Plaza Loranca 2, Gran Vía 2, Plaza Norte 2, Gran Plaza 2, La Villa 2 and Plaza Mar 2.
The Plaza Río 2 shopping center has a built-up area of some 128,000 square meters, of which almost 40,000 will be for commercial use. The new leisure and restaurant area will have 160 points of sale, which will be 100% occupied on the day of its inauguration, including the best brands in the fashion sector.
Along with the opening of the shopping center, the "Mirador de Plaza Río 2" will also open to the public, the largest terrace dedicated to restaurants in the capital with a total area of more than 3,000 square meters where you can enjoy the spectacular views of the rehabilitated area of Calle 30.
Plaza Río 2 has been designed by the Chapman Taylor architectural firm and will have four floors; three dedicated to commercial outlets and a fourth reserved for the restaurant area. In the words of LSGIE's CEO, Bertrand Chevallerau, they want Plaza Río 2 to "become a reference point for leisure and catering" in the southern area of Madrid.
