Madrid's Caja Mágica is a spectacular tennis sports complex, designed by French architect Dominique Perrault and considered the most modern tennis facility in the world. With capacity for 20,000 spectators, it has hosted the annual Mutua Madrid Open since 2009 and features three indoor and outdoor tennis courts, as well as 16 outdoor courts and a wide variety of sports facilities and services. But what really makes the Caja Mágica unique is its ability to adapt to different configurations thanks to its three movable roofs, allowing three simultaneous matches to take place, as well as the organization of other events beyond tennis.

The Caja Mágica has been presented as the most modern tennis facility in the world. The venue has annually hosted the Mutua Madrid Open since 2009. Made entirely of steel, wood and glass, the sports complex was designed by French architect Dominique Perrault. The name Madrid Caja Mágica is associated with the envelope of the sports halls, to which it gives a dynamic and changing appearance.
Conceived on a 16.5-hectare surface area on former derelict land located between the freeway and the railway wastelands, the Olympic Tennis Center with a surface area of 100,000m2 is composed of 3 indoor and outdoor tennis courts for 20.000 spectators (12,000, 5,000 and 3,000 respectively), 16 outdoor tennis courts, five indoor courts for 350 spectators each, six training courts, an indoor swimming pool, as well as the headquarters of the Madrid Tennis Federation, a tennis school, a tennis club, a press center, reserved spaces and restaurants.

The three tennis courts adapt to the different uses of the sports complex. Mounted on large hydraulic jacks, the three movable covers each allow three different configurations: fully open, semi-open or closed. The three roofs together can configure 27 different positions: The roof of the central runway measuring 102mx70m and weighing 1,200 tons can be ajar in the vertical position and raised about 20m in height.

The Madrid Olympic Tennis Center is the only facility in the world that can ensure the development of three simultaneous matches, indoor or outdoor. This quality allows it to organize not only sporting events of the highest level, but also other types of events, concerts, political rallies, fashion shows, etc...
